Post Independence and Present Day Burma: A Closer Look at Ethnicity and The Military Government

Abstract

This paper seeks to contribute to the ongoing academic conversation regarding the factors that led to military rule in Burma. By examining the historical events and factors that contributed to the failure of democracy in Burma during the periods of 1947-1962 and 2015-2023, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the root causes of political instability and authoritarianism in the country.
