Abstract
More sustainable means of providing fresh water are needed to eliminate problems of water scarcity. Flow-electrode capacitive deionization is a low-energy method of desalination without releasing an environmentally harmful brine. This method is most effective at 1.1 V with slower ow rates. These conditions allow for further low-energy optimization of desalination.
