Abstract

This paper sets out to compile a census of planet Transit Hosts identified in the APOGEE Catalog. We first began by reviewing the historical significance of planet hosts and exoplanet discovery. We recognize modern exoplanet identification tactics, namely stellar transits and spectroscopy, and discuss the main tactics of transits and spectroscopy. Next, we reviewed the primary missions and datasets used, Kepler, K2, and TESS Missions, as well as how these samples are collected and stored. An additional two other sources of data are used, Zink et al. (2021) and APOGEE. Moving forward into calculations, we first visualize our four data samples in a variety of plots and tables to verify general accuracy. W =e run our samples through the Isofit Pipeline provided by Robert Wilson, which is a code that produces the stellar mass and stellar radius. We then convert stellar parameters to planet parameters. Lastly, we compare parameters collected for the same points in different ways, spectroscopy and photometry. We also look at the chemical abundances of our host stars to again comment on sample accuracy.
