Abstract

This thesis is an investigation of the application of the control theory algorithm known as Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) to computational combustion models. The combustion model investigated here is a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of a piloted turbulent jet flame. This is an attempt to utilize DMD by developing a program that applies DMD to such a reacting flow model, and tries to reduce the computational demand of the basic algorithm. This work investigates problems and obstacles that arise when developing a Dynamic Mode Decomposition program to work with such a combustion mode, as well as the results of analyzing different flame parameters with DMD.
