Abstract

This thesis looks into the detailed ways that race and social class come together to influence what Black students go through at Princeton University. It uses information from 12 through interviews to understand the different views of athletes and non-athletes who come from many levels of wealth and different countries. By analyzing different themes, the study reveals various difficulties that Black students encounter such as feeling left out, facing prejudice based on race, and dealing with differences in social and economic status among people at the university. The research also looks into how much help and resources from the institution either lessen or increase these problems. It gives insight into whether efforts to promote diversity and the overall cultural environment at Princeton University are successful. The study gathers the stories and perspectives of Black students from different economic backgrounds, including low, middle, and upper classes. This helps to fully understand how race and social class interact in top-level universities. The research adds important information to current talks about diversity, fairness, and belongingness in schools. It suggests ways to create a better atmosphere for Black students at Princeton University and other places too.
