Abstract

This paper discusses the debate on centered possible worlds. The focus is on defending and extending David Lewis’s theory of what constitutes a center. It explores an extended view of Lewis’s theory, and determines that individuals must be conscious in order to be centers of possible worlds. It also argues that considering centered possible worlds over possible worlds in general can affect the beliefs of a rational agent.
