| dc.description.abstract | Tokyo Disneyland stands out among theme parks worldwide, blending Disney’s American brand with Japanese consumer behaviors such as seasonal shopping, collecting, and limited-edition goods. This study uses wait-time data across nine rides and a panel regression with ride and time-of-day fixed effects to examine how the Lunar New Year period and associated demand shifts affect congestion patterns in the park. The results show that increased demand is not evenly distributed, with visitors concentrating on already-popular attractions like Soaring: Fantastic Flight, while rides like Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, which exit directly into themed merchandise stores, experience a decline in wait times during the peak period. These findings suggest that seasonal merchandise and retail environments can act as competing attractions, redistributing visitor attention and shaping movement patterns across the park. | |
